Food and Beverage Intern - San Jose Giants (San Jose, CA)

The San Jose Giants are seeking a Food and Beverage Intern to work directly with the Director of Game Day Operations and Human Resources Manager on all aspects of daily food and beverage operations at Municipal Stadium. The Food and Beverage Intern will assist in supervising the concession profit centers during each game, oversee product inventory including receiving all product deliveries, set-up, maintain, and close down concession operations for seasonal use, assist with updating the POS system with invoices including deliveries, transfers and opening events, ensure all food and beverage operations are maintained in a clean and professional manner, help organize, store and clean out the concessions store room, support the Director of Game Day Operations and Human Resources Manager and the Food and Beverage Coordinator in training all food and beverage employees focusing on providing friendly and fast service, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal health code standards, assist with updating concession menu boards and signage throughout the stadium, and help in the concession areas for San Jose State University games as well as other non San Jose Giants events as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook along with experience in QuickBooks Software. Ability to multi-task stay organized, motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of budget processes. Interpersonal/human relations skills, clerical skills and planning skills as well as the ability to type, maintain confidentiality and maintain records and files. Applicant is expected to be available to work all home games including weekdays, weekends and evenings. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

Facility Operations/Security: Grounds Crew/Turf Management
Head Groundskeeper - San Jose Giants (San Jose, CA)

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The San Jose Giants are seeking a motivated and driven individual to fill the role of Head Groundskeeper at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, CA. The Head Groundskeeper will report to the Senior Vice President of Ballpark Operations performing in areas such as, but not limited to: Infield skin maintenance, mound, home plate and bullpen, sod work, fertilization, pest management, and water removal/tarp crew during inclement weather. Job requires working all San Jose Giants home games and field maintenance when team is away. Job also requires field management during non-Giants events. The Head Groundskeeper will manage part time grounds crew to assist with field related work. Additional responsibilities include: lawn maintenance, including but not limited to: Raking, mowing, fertilizing, edging, and sod work, prep field for game day use including painting lines and logos, rebuilding of the mound and bullpens, and dragging the infield / outfield, design and implement short and long-term Field Maintenance plan noting daily updates and observations, monitor local weather and assist in tarp situations, assist Vice President of Ballpark Operations as needed, basic maintenance and care of mowers and other equipment, maintain parameters of a yearly budget and give input as necessary, manage and maintain a professional playing surface and flexibility to accept additional game responsibilities, hire, manage, schedule, and train seasonal grounds crew, participate in field walkthroughs with upper management during team road trips and attend weekly staff meetings and update full time staff members of field conditions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Candidates should have previous lawn maintenance experience or related education. Experience and knowledge of the sports industry is preferred. Individual must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Up to 85% of schedule can be physical work with routine exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold), dust and airborne particles. Applicant is expected to be available to work all home games and several special events, including weekdays, weekends and evenings.

Job Description:
The San Jose Giants seek an aggressive, competitive, professional, self-starting individual who will be responsible for selling season and group tickets to both corporations and the general public. The candidate is responsible for prospecting new customers, qualifying leads provided to them, fulfilling specific assigned sales obligations, and developing professional relationships with season ticket clients and group leaders.

Job Responsibilities:
• Prospect and make cold calls to local companies and organizations to set up appointments to sell San Jose Giants ticket packages.
• Work with the sales staff to generate new leads and research innovative ways to sell tickets.

Description:
The San Jose Giants seek an aggressive, competitive, professional, self-starting individual who will be responsible for assisting with the ticket office operations during the season.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operations of the box office.
  • Sell group tickets, single game tickets, mini plans, and full season packages.
  • Process incoming sales calls.
  • Manage printing and distribution of both season and individual game tickets.
  • Event setup and management of ticket inventory.
  • Work with finance department for daily sales reports and balancing.
  • Maintain database and facilitate all communication with season ticket clients.
  • Ensure that the Box Office is run in an efficient manner.
  • Prospect and make cold calls to local companies and organizations to set up appointments to sell San Jose Giants season ticket packages and group ticket packages.
  • Attend community events.
  • Provide superior customer service to clients including existing ticket holders, new prospects, and single game customers.

Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business or Sports Management preferred.
  • 1+ year of previous ticket office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be customer service-oriented, have an exceptional work ethic, strong desire to succeed, professionalism, strong organizational skills, and a passion for sales.
  • Must be available to work all home games and special events throughout the year.
  • Willingness to work long hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • TicketReturn experience is a plus.
  • Abode Illustrator or Photoshop experience is a plus.

This is a seasonal position with an anticipated start date of February 1, 2018. The anticipated end date is one week after the last San Jose Giants game in September 2018.
