Food and Beverage Internship - Lancaster JetHawks (Lancaster, CA)


Title: Food & Beverage Internship

What Will Be Learned: The successful candidate will utilize and strengthen time management and organizational skills. Communication skills will also be enhanced through working with co-workers and developing events. The experience of working in a professional customer service driven environment will help the candidate in his or her future career. Spending a season as part of the JetHawks organization will be great experience for any individual who wants to excel in a business environment. The successful candidate will also gain experience in a multitude of faced paced food and beverage areas from concessions to high end catering.

Position in the corporate structure: The Food and Beverage Intern will report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage and will assist in the oversight and supervision of all seasonal food & beverage game day staff.

Food & Beverage Duties:

1) Assist in the enhancement of the image of the JetHawks concessions operation, including improving service, efficiency, image, etc. This could include product pricing, improving customer service, naming the in-stadium stands, as well as many other issues.
2) Oversee and coordinate the BBQ Area & Club Section Service (including set-up and food) with the JetHawks sales staff.
3) Assist in inventory control of all concession supplies, including aiding in ordering of new supplies, equipment, and food. Complete and track pre-season inventory sheets, game sheets and post-season sheets.
4) Assist in the hiring and training of game-day concession workers. Assist in the oversight of all concessions management and all concession workers and stadium employees, which includes tracking of hours/pay, customer service updates, and scheduling.
5) Help reduce employee and operations costs by keeping daily waste and comp sheets.
6) Along with the Director of Food & Beverage, research and implement new concession ideas, including but not limited to: new food items, new food stands, and pricing.
7) Assist in controlling costs & expenses for employees, food & other expenses.
8) Assist the Director of Food & Beverage in leading the pre-game customer service and information meeting with the game day staff.
9) Game day duties include preparing stands, kitchen, BBQ area and daily management clip boards.
10) Take part in community events as a representative of the Lancaster JetHawks.

Ticket Sales

11) Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists.
12) Makes sales calls for major theme nights (i.e. Faith Night, Scout Nights, Day Camps, etc…)
13) Assist in the creation of leads lists to be used for sales calls.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other duties:

14) Maintain an extraordinary attention to detail and excellent time management skills, which are an absolute requirement to acceptable job performance.
15) Be a leader in customer service.
16) Work as a member of a TEAM, and Have Fun!!!
17) Conduct self in a professional manner.
18) Perform other duties as determined by the General Manager.

Requirements:
19) A strong desire and motivation to succeed in the sports and entertainment industry.

21) Ability to work 70 home games including long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Community Relations/Merchandise Internship - Lancaster JetHawks (Lancaster, CA)

Title: Community Relations and Merchandise Internship

Spending a season as part of the JetHawks front office will be a great experience for any individual who wants to excel in the field of professional sports.

Position in the corporate structure: The Community Relations and Merchandise Intern will report to the Director of Community Relations and the Assistant General Manager.

Job Duties:

Merchandise:

1) Assist Director of Community Relations and Merchandise with ordering and choosing what items the JetHawks will carry in their team store during the 2009 season.
2) Track and catalog all orders in the JetHawks team store.
3) Responsible for processing and sending all orders from the JetHawks online store.
4) Help set up displays in the store to maximize sales potential.
5) Assist with the day-to-day operations in the JetHawks team store and handle any complaints, suggestions, or comments from fans and ticket holders.
6) Assist with monthly inventory of team store and teach other front office staff the how to use the new Point of Sale System.
7) Monitor customer trends within the store to maximize merchandise sales.

Community Relations:

8) Assist Director of Community Relations with all JetHawks outside appearances.
9) Assist in management of the JetHawks Street Team and in the successful execution of any and all community events at local schools, malls and stores.
10) Take part in all Chamber of Commerce events as a local community partner.
11) Assist Director of Community Relations with the successful implementation of the JetHawks Reading Challenge at local schools.
12) Execution of JetHawks Reading Challenge assemblies (as needed) at local elementary and middle schools.
13) Identify and foster relationships with community partners who would benefit by partnership with the JetHawks.
14) Assist with all non-profit donation requests and donated mascot appearances.

 Ticket Sales and Ticket Operations:

15) Assist in the delivery of game tickets to groups.
16) Take and process advance ticket orders.
17) Assist in the oversight of the JetHawks box office.
18) Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists.
19) Make sales calls for major theme nights and events (i.e. Faith Night, Scout Nights, Jimmy Buffett Night etc.)
20) Assist in the creation of leads lists to be used for sales calls.

Requirements:

Superior organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Able to be employed by the Lancaster JetHawks from approximately February 15 – September 15, 2009
Able to work several days consecutively during the summer when events take place at Clear Channel Stadium.

Compensation:

$500.00/month, plus furnished apartment provided by the JetHawks

Position in the corporate structure: The Operations/Promotions Intern will report to the Director of Promotions and the Assistant General Manager.

Operations Assistant Job Duties:

Promotions:

1) Assist in the execution of activities within the JetHawks promotions department, including all game day promotions and set-up of all necessary promotions areas for all events at Clear Channel Stadium (i.e. Fun Zone inflatable games, on-field props, etc).
2) Assist in the development of game day scripts and outlines for each JetHawks game.
3) Ensure all necessary promotions props, give away items are properly maintained and ready for each home game.
4) Oversee the organization and clean-up of all promotions storage areas throughout the stadium.
5) Ensure completion of all participant waivers and necessary filing after all JetHawks home games.
6) Coordinate with the PA announcer, video wall announcer and producer and information booth personnel to ensure all personnel have necessary scripts, statistics and other information related to each home game.
7) Ensure all proper promotions sign-up boxes and information booth materials are in place for each home game.
8) Assist all game day sponsors in the placement of banners, booths or other materials throughout the stadium.
9) Will be responsible for taking photos of the nightly sponsors for the end of the season sponsorship proof of performance packages. One of the other interns will assist in the completion of this task.
10) Gain an understanding of the operation of the video wall, public address system and video camera operations.
11) Participate in the scheduling and coordination of the team’s official mascot and player appearances and events.
12) Oversee Promotions Crew and dance team activities.
13) Assist w/ Pre-game activities but not limited to: Dugout Teams, boy scout and girl scout parades, national anthems, and any other pre-game activity that occurs.

Marketing & Sponsorships:

14) Assist in the execution of all sponsorship and ticket accounts, including all details are accounted for with each account.
15) Assist in the coordination of all sponsor files, ensuring that all materials related to proof of performance recognition packets is accounted for and filed properly.
16) Assist in the production of sponsor proof of performances, including, composing and putting together proof of performance packets.
17) Assist with grassroots marketing in surrounding areas

 

Ticket Operations & Sales:

18) Assist in the delivery of game tickets to groups.
19) Take and process advance ticket orders.
20) Assist in the oversight of the JetHawks box office.
21) Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists.
22) Make sales calls for major theme nights (i.e. Faith Night, Scout Nights, Day Camp Days).
23) Assist in the creation of leads lists to be used for sales calls.

Other Duties:

23) Maintain an extraordinary attention to detail and excellent time management skills, which are an absolute requirement to acceptable job performance.

The intern candidate must have a Strong desire and motivation to succeed in the sports and entertainment industry.

The Operations/Promotions intern should be available from March 1, 2010 to September 15, 2010.
Ability to work 70 home games plus potential playoff games including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

5) Assist in the delivery of game tickets to groups.
6) Take and process advance ticket orders while maintaining the ticket database.
7) Supervise and train game-day ticket office staff.
8) Assist in the oversight of the JetHawks box office.
9) Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists.
10) Make sales calls for major theme nights (i.e. Faith Night, Scout Nights, Day Camp Days).
11) Assist in the creation of leads lists to be used for sales calls.
12) Book and service groups before, during, and after their events.

Requirements:
